By downloading or using TalkItEasy, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Who can use TalkItEasy
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to use TalkItEasy.
What you can do
We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use TalkItEasy on your own devices for your own learning and personal purposes.
What you cannot do
- Copy, modify, or redistribute the app or its content.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract the source code.
- Use the app to build a competing product.
- Attempt to access data that belongs to other users.
- Remove any copyright or ownership notices.
Your account
If you link a Google or Apple account, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Notify us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. This permanently removes your data from our servers immediately upon deletion.
The content
The words, definitions, audio recordings, and usage notes in TalkItEasy are for educational purposes. They represent real-world English usage, which sometimes includes informal, direct, or blunt language. Context tags are provided so you understand how each expression lands in practice.
TalkItEasy is a language learning tool. It is not a substitute for formal language instruction or professional advice of any kind.
Your recordings
The Echo Lab feature lets you record your own voice for self-comparison purposes. Your recordings are processed on your device only and are never transmitted to our servers.
Intellectual property
All content in the app (including the audio recordings, definitions, and software) is owned by TalkItEasy or its licensors. These terms do not give you any ownership rights over that content.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant TalkItEasy a worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, and incorporate that feedback into our products without any compensation or obligation to you.
Availability and warranty
TalkItEasy is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We may update, change, or discontinue features at any time, and we cannot guarantee the app will be available or error-free at all times.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, TalkItEasy is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the app. TalkItEasy is free to use, and our total liability for any claim will not exceed $10.
Apple App Store users
If you downloaded TalkItEasy from the Apple App Store, the following also applies:
- This agreement is between you and TalkItEasy only. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide any maintenance, support, warranty, or claims handling related to the app.
- In the event that the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple. Because TalkItEasy is free, there is no purchase price to refund. Beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app, including product liability claims, consumer protection claims, intellectual property infringement claims, or legal and regulatory compliance.
- Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via the app or email. Your continued use of the app after that constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Disputes
If something is not right, contact us first at legal@sugarfree.dev. We would rather resolve things directly than through lawyers.
If a formal dispute cannot be resolved informally, both parties agree to pursue it on an individual basis. Class actions and class arbitrations are not permitted. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
